Domain name registration spam (again)

Back in September last year we reported some clients were receiving email from Asian Domain name registrars attempting to sell more domain names by using scare tactics in relation to brand names – see the post here

Different people, but it is all go again – must be a quiet time for Asian domain name registrars – Our advice – If you receive these and you do not have intentions of delving into these markets and having a Chinese presence -  delete themHere is an example of an emails being received by clients

Dear CEO,

We are the department of registration service in China.which mainly deal with international company’s in Asia.We have something important need to confirm with your company.We formally received an application on September 27, 2010, One company which is called ” Magun Investment Ltd” is registering “xxxx” as brand name and domain names as below:
xxxx.com.hk
xxxx.net.cn

After our initial checking, we found the brand name and these domain names being applied are as same as your company’s, so we need to confirm with your company. If the aforesaid company is your business partner or your subsidiary company, please do not reply us, we will approve the application automatically. If you have no any relationship with this company, please contact us within 10 workdays. If out of the deadline, we will approve the application submitted by “Magun Investment Ltd” unconditionally.
