Welcome to the @ web one blog

Nelson / Marlborough / Tasman New Zealand history

Tomorrow 15 February is the launch of The Prow website.

The Prow: ngā kōrero o te tau ihu is the beginning of a journey, which will preserve the history and heritage of our region – Nelson, Marlborough and Tasman –  and make it more widely accessible.

The website features more than 40 fully researched stories with historic images and lists of, and links to, related resources and research material for those who wish to dig deeper. Topics include: the Maungatapu Murders, the development of telegraph, railway and aviation, the Wairau Affray and many more stories about: people, places, events, business, industry, art and Maori history.

The official website launch will be held during Nelson’s 150th anniversary of becoming a city, at Founders Park at 1.00pm in the Granary. See you there.

We @ web one are proud to have been involved in this project. Together with Nelson based co-developers Synetix, we commenced work on the project in August. It has been an exciting journey, and a big pretty big learning curve for all involved. The site has been developed in New Zealand’s premium open source CMS, Silverstripe.

Led by the Nelson Public Libraries, The Prow is a collaborative venture between the Nelson, Tasman District and Marlborough District Libraries, The Nelson Provincial Museum and the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT). Our thanks to all those involved to help have this project completed on time and on budget.
