Webby awards winners announced

The Webby Awards is an international award honoring excellence on the Internet, including websites, interactive advertising, online film and video, and mobile web sites, presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.

The 12th Annual Webby Awards (2008) were announced today. See the list here.

There are some great websites that won awards (we could not find any New Zealand winners though).

We don’t think that search engine optimisation from an organic perspective were part of the website award criteria though.

Our message to web site owners is that unless a well known brand, do not instruct your web company to copy the concept of the site award winners. Most of the site winners had a flash splash page as the home page

You simply will not get found in organic searches for anything except your business name.
