Back in late October, we were told unequivocally that New Zealand websites with a .com domain name should be hosted in New Zealand space rather than the US or elsewhere or they would not be found in www.google.co.nz when ticking "pages from New Zealand"

I have now undertaken more research on this subject and confirm my last post. We have created new sites in the past months for NZ businesses with .com domain names, and all without exception can be found where we would expect using google.co.nz with NZ only ticked. Do a search using that method for timaru real estate – no3 is Realty Corner’s website at www.timaru-realestate.com/ – search farewell spit, and you will see that farewellspit.com comes up first and even .biz domain names work. Do a search using dog grooming supplies and our client ShowThyme will be found at number 3.

So we reinforce that whilst it may be the situation for Bev and others that we are aware of, they have had to change hosting to New Zealand web space to get found in Googles NZ only, it is not correct in the cases of the clients we look after.
