Xtras bubble update
Posted October 25th, 2007 by peterFrom tests we have had conducted after complaints of clients not receive email to their xtra addresses when sent from some other NZ ISP’s, it appears it is the "bubbles fault.
A client (hosted with Paradise) contacted us recently saying that email they were sending to an xtra address was not being received. We could not help them of course because the emails were not being sent through our networks. The emails sent to our xtra email address from the same client was also not received by us either.
The client contacted us a little while later, saying the following:-
"I rang our IT people. The problem was a xxxxx’s end. Xtra joined with Yahoo a little while ago. If xtra account holders did not sign up for xtra bubble this problem can occur where some of the emails sent to them get lost. xxxxx has now joined xtra bubble and all is well now. No one knows why this happens but it does."
OK, no big deal we thought. However, it is quite a big deal really. In the past couple of days we have had 2 other clients asking us questions about the same scenario. After advising them to get the people who they are trying to email to Join Xtra’s bubble, their problems are resolved too.
So, like it or hate it, if you expect to receive email to your @xtra.co.nz address(es) from at least Paradise users, join the bubble. If it does not worry you, like me (I would not touch their bubble with a barge poll) dont bother.
