Search engine market share in the US – June results

As expected nielsonwire reports Google was the top search site in June, with almost 2/3rds of the search market share of all US searches during the month.

Google has lost 1.1% share over the past year according to their figures, but there is some movement between Bing and Yahoo compared to May. Bing has picked up 4.5% (or a 50% increase for them) of the market at the expense of Yahoo and AOL search.

We would like to reinforce to our clients and potential clients that we don’t use any of the worst practices talked of by the author Stephen Spencer. Maybe that is why our clients get found so well in Google, Yahoo and Bing. Read the rest of this entry »

Still got internet explorer 6? Time to let it go

Microsoft internet explorer version 6 is now 9 years old.
Earlier versions were absolutely hopeless as a browser, but ver 6 was the first of their better versions. While versions 7 and 8 have been even better, they still cause issues for us web developers because IE still does not comply with css standards. We make our sites for Firefox (the same engines apparently run Safari and Opera) and then make it work for Internet Explorer so the website visitor still gets a great experience. All Your SEO Questions – the answers

Firstly, it is months since I have made a post. Anyone would have thought I had been asleep, but appearances are deceiving. We have been really busy working with new clients (and our old – bless them), new staff, moving offices in March, and all sorts of other things – like taking a little bit of time out over the holidays.

Anyway, enough excuses

I came across this post called “Getting Answers To All Your SEO Questions” by one David Leonhardt this morning, which is a light hearted read about SEO. And it is all true of course

Loved it. Thanks David

Closing the sale – National Bank seminar

After I purchased 100% of @ web one, I decided to change banks. This decision was not taken lightly, because the ASB had looked after us pretty well in the past and their on-line banking facilities are great. Never heard from them apart from bank statements though. The main reason I changed was because National Bank Business Manager Ngaio King is a member of our BNI chapter, and I liked both what I heard from her and Ngaio herself.
